JIU at the RIAS and UN-RIAS annual meetings in Beijing

The Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations System (JIU), through its Executive Secretary Mika Tapio, participated in the 55th annual meeting of RIAS (Representatives of Internal Audit Services of United Nations organizations and multilateral financial institutions and other associated intergovernmental organizations) and the 18th meeting of UN-RIAS (United Nations Representatives of Internal Audit Services), held in Beijing from 8 to 11 September.

The meeting, under the theme Driving Impact with Innovation, brought together internal audit professionals from the UN and other international organizations to exchange experiences and discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in internal audit and oversight.

As part of the JIU-UN-RIAS Dialogue, the Executive Secretary presented the Unit's mandate, working methods, programme-of-work development process, recommendation follow-up framework, and coordination mechanisms within the United Nations system. 

The JIU appreciates the excellent organization of the meeting by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and values the continued collaboration between the JIU and the RIAS/UN-RIAS community in promoting effective oversight, transparency, accountability, and organizational learning across the international system.
